That is the question!

Should I just purchase a newer GPU or SLI the current one? I rock a older GTX 460 1gb.

Another 460 will be like $120?

I could get a 560 Ti for like $200.

What should I dooooo?

Depends on what you're doing with said card. Gaming obviously, but, like, high compatibility steam games, or small-dev indie games?

Despite the age of my card, it still plays all current new releases max settings. However, I think that will soon change with the new year.

So I am looking for maximum gaming potential for next year's games.

I was more worried about compatibility than anything else.

Next year is gonna be a big year for gameplay and storytelling. We will see some really good looking graphics, but they're just the framework for some really compelling games. At this point, Watch Dogs and Crysis 3 are the only [announced] graphical heavy hitters, both of which have a strong emphasis on gameplay.

GTAV and The Last of us are two other great looking games, but TLoU is Ps3-exclusive and R* is being very VERY tight-lipped about GTAV's PC release.

I suppose you could get ready for whatever the next iteration of CoD will be, but since MW1 and BO1 they've been reusing the same game engines, so we wont see much change there, either.

Pretty sure Sli'd 460's are better than a 560ti.

Not all games perform better in SLI/crossfire. Assuming the game does improve with SLI/crossfire (any major game) SLI'd 460s has more power.
