I'm a little confused... what's so funny about screwing? ...My dictionary sais, it means something like... twist in/ or out a bolt...
*blushing*

It's more of an American I think... We Americans put another meaning on the term 'Screwing'...

It's slang for sex in english.

Also, if your hard drive is making weird noises, it could quite possibly be a head crash, and that's also what's destroyed so many sectors. A drop or hard jolt while it's spinning is what could have caused it.
The fact that a new laptop hard drive can be had for under $50 USD means that's what I'd try to replace first.

I found one on ebay, including the possibility to send it back for free if it doesn't fit :-)

Hope it's the only damaged device...

Since it's a laptop, you should be looking for a 2.5" drive. 69.75mm or so if it's in metric.

I took out the old one and compared it to the information the seller provided... According to these, it should fit :)
We'll see...

I'll keep you up to date :)
