Think about it, with something tablet sized there would be a little extra room to stuff something like this. With SDXC cards you can get 128gb of space, plenty for quite a few movies. Tablets have the battery space as well. Imagine how easy this would make presentations, or sharing movies with friends.

Imagine the costs of that, I don't there's a big market for that. Unless Apple makes it. There's always a market when Apple makes it.

That would be awesome on so many levels. Although it would be easier to shoehorn it into a laptop.

No more watching movies on a tiny screen.

Apart from the cost it would, indeed, be awesome

You can buy them for around $200. I imagine the hardware cost of them is much lower, so it shouldn't cost much more honestly. A tablet like the nexus 7 up to maybe 3-400 range.

For 3-400$ I'd get one.

The power draw of the projector's lamp is what would come into play, here. Maybe a specialized LED implementation would work.

I know it will drastically cut down on battery life, but I think if they could get close to 3 hours out of the projector it'd be great. I can turn the flash on my phone tonight and see how quickly it drains the battery, that's a very bright LED.

Agreed. Beyond that, I think it is just a matter of the actual display size.

What might be more viable currently is a microUSB-powered projector.

Hrm. that would work I suppose. But I'd really like the whole thing to be in one package.

I hate to use the example, but that is how camera phones came to be, so I think that you have a great point.
