This is kind of off topic, but since we are talking music I should mention the website turntable.fm! You basically go into a lobby filled with different rooms/server each with a different music genres. You join a room that fits you and people from around the world who like the same music are in that room and anyone could play music in that genre! Btw fanning is basically adding someone as a friend.

I haven't updated my corner in awhile so here we go....

Today I am going to post 5 nerdy albums by some talented artists for your listening pleasure...
Some of them are kinda old, but damn are they awesome... and the best thing of all.... They're all free :)

8 BIT BOYS

If you enjoy 8 bit music reminiscent of the good old nintendo chiptune era complete with the some of the best nerdcore rappers, then look no further!!!! Features YTCracker, T.Y.T The Ranger and another dude I forgot.... Just download this, it's awesome.

Link - http://nerdcorehipho...8-bit-diagrams/

THE RANGER

Probably the most lyrically gifted nerdy rapper to emerge from Australia. His phantasmal flow has earned him a reputation for being one of the greatest nerdcore artists of today. It's apparent that The Ranger recorded this album in his bedroom but the quality doesn't matter, this album is still gold. Features Kabuto The Python as well :)

Link - http://nerdcorehipho...gerthe-cook-up/

ATTACK SLUG

Definitely my greatest nerdy inspiration in this day and age. This cute little album will be enjoyed by people who don't even like hip-hop or rap for that matter. This album is within my top 5 D.I.Y albums of all time, give it a blast and see what I mean. This guys is soooooo underrated,,,

Link - http://nerdcorehipho...ement-unlocked/

KABUTO THE PYTHON

Man this dude has such a unique voice, some may find it irritating, but he is a very talented rapper nonetheless. Kabuto is slowly making a name for himself solidifying himself as a top contender alongside nerdy greats such as MC Lars, MC Frontalot and Schaffer The Darklord. Peep his shit or get kicked in the face!!!!

Link - http://nerdcorehipho...s/parceltongue/

YTCRACKER

Arguably one of the most famous nerdcore dudes on the planet. YTCracker gained notoriety from his days as a hacker and somehow became a rapper.... Weird.... Anyway his album CHRONO NURGA is based off the SNES classic CHRONO TRIGGER, and damn was that a cool game. It's a short album but it takes me back to the days where I travelled through time along with my robot and Frog to destroy Dalmagus!!!! I swear this is a cool album, download it.....

Link - http://nerdcorehipho...s/chrono-nurga/

Ok, that's me for this week. I'll post another 5 albums later when I can be bothered.

Parseltongue is easily my most-played album from last year. His voice is so unique, yet I felt like I've heard it before. Can't think where though.

There are a few fillers on the album, but overall it's a pretty good showcase of his lyrical abilities. I'm sure I heard his voice as the ninja villain on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles lol

Random Plugging On Random Stranger

Met this guy on Facebook. His name is Deep Swish.

Currently listening to his album on Bandcamp called "Mysthic"

http://swishybizzles...tion_ref_map=[]

THE VERDICT

IMO the quality and production is really outstanding. Absolutely crisp and no imperfections whatsoever. The album has like a horrorcore theme to it where he raps about Zombies and other dark entities. Ideal for a halloween party. I did enjoy the first 4 tracks but sort of zoned off during the rest of the album. Marsh Land Monster is a talented artist I met on another forum and he appears in this album and apparently helped produce it as well, so that's what really drew me to listen to this album in the 1st place. MLM is a beast on the mic and I don't mind showing him some love any day. I think it's an awesome album, but I wouldn't pay $7 to download it :S

I give this a 6/10

I don't usually plug strangers and their music but I thought "what the hell" this is THE ROB$TAR MUSIC CORNER and I like exploring new nerdy music.

I'm out

HELLO THERE NINJACAKE86

I will elaborate on your music video

Your rhymes and lyrics are real basic. The hook is extremely annoying. You use the word "mother fucking" really excessively. As for the delivery it could be better, you sound a little nasally. I think you should layer your voice a bit more with back ups just to empower your vocals. You also need to work on your punchlines, the last part of your verse should carry the funniest conclusion of the joke. The beat is kinda basic and really generic, could be changed up during the chorus to indicate that it is.... well the chorus... lol

Ok as for the video itself, fucking brilliant. Editing is sweet, lip sync is very well done and effects and overall polishing is outstanding. As for your hand gestures and movements they kinda actually suited the overall theme. (Love the power rangers t-shirt) you trully are a geek lol Go back to your director and pat him on the back.

I think this is probably your 1st song ever, but that's ok, tbh this isn't the worst thing I've ever heard, just needs a little work. And I can admit I probably made something worst than this back in the day so I'm no saint. But don't be discourage by what I or other say. Just be persistent and take on board all of the constructive criticism people give you, apply it to your product, and there's no doubt in my mind that you could actually be pretty good.  Not everyone is going to love your music so be strong. Just keep working at it.

I'm in the same boat as you, I do music as a hobby.

I wanna see more from you in the future...

Regards

I appreciate the feedback Robstar! I have to admit I am not a rapper or a performer of any kind. I had zero experience going into this. To be honest the video and rap was made to be more funny than anything, but I can appreciate the time you took to critique my work and I will take your advise should I do anything in the future. I have been thinking of doing a fusion dance tutorial with a full blown fusion at the end. (this will only make sense if you have watched the later seasons of Dragonball Z) anyway I wrote the rap in a rehab where many swear words were not allowed but the word fuck was totally fine, this will explain why its pretty much the only curse word and it is used a lot! Regardless of talent I am sure it kept your attention and made you laugh a few times and I am happy with that!

Good lad. I'm glad you were able to take that to the chin.

Getting feedback by the community is a big help. They're really good at telling you what they like and don't like. Having a second opinion is always good.

A fusion dance video would be pretty funny, maybe even turn it into a full fledged song would be hilarious, kinda like the soulja boy crank that dance. The song sucked but it's the dance that really appealed 2 the masses.

OK I'M BACK WITH ANOTHER ALBUM REVIEW!!!!

So today I was looking through my computer for albums I haven't listened to yet and came across - ROLL A TWENTY RECORDS MIXTAPE!!!!!

Now this album has a lot of history and controversy surrounding it's release.... (If you don't give a fuck about the story just scroll down to the review)

Let's take it from the top....

This album marks the biggest/most legitimate and ONLY Nerdcore beef in the existence of the genre. Basically Roll A Twenty Records was created by the RhymeTorrentz (Now known as Nerdcore Now) Forum site Admin Don Vito as a rival to the almighty Scrub Club Records. Vito recruited/signed a few of the prominent rappers from the forums and started working on a new mixtape. Vito also announced that he would be handing over control of RhymeTorrentz to focus on RATR.

Bad blood started brewing when Scrub Club owner Madhatter and Don Vito started beefing with each other and Vito started banning Scrub Club artists and/or people who were affiliated with the label.

When this mixtape was finally released there was a certain amount of negativity and bitterness surrounding Vito and the artists affiliated with Roll A Twenty Records. The once great RhymeTorrentz community was split between one another. The negativity surrounding this whole situation resulted in poor downloads of the album.

Then Don Vito abandoned RATR, then..... disappeared................ For a few years ;)

There's more info regarding the situation but fuckkitt.....

ONTO THE ALBUM NOW!!!!!

This album was heavily influenced by the West Coast G-Funk sound (Made popular by Dr Dre) with most of the beats made by Don Vito himself. This album showcases the awesome talent of Billy The Fridge, Bazuuka Joe, Blip, Shakeous and a few collabs. I must admit that the first few songs were pretty awesome. Bazuuka Joe, Blip and Shakeous show that they are really talented rappers with hot bars, smooth flow and pretty awesome punchlines.

It's true to say that this album is very unique for a nerdcore album simply because it steers clear from the usual chiptune and 8 bit sound that is prevalent in most nerdy music. I can appreciate the alternative to the usual pop/nintendo sampled crap that I'm used to hearing, and I think people who enjoy hip-hop will also appreciate these songs too.

I must admit that the production (mixing, vocals, volumes) are all over the show, but I can live with that. This album won't change your life, but you know what, I LIKE IT!!!!!!!

I award this album a 6.8/10
Favorite Song: Futuristic Emcees

Pretty sad that this album didn't get the love that it oh-so deserved because it really is an entertaining listen and some of the rappers worked their asses off in the making of it...... Just sad that politics screwed it up....

Download it, It's only 50 megs so why now? It's also free....

Anyways that's me for the week.

WHAT'S UP TAPE WORMS AND PERPETUAL PARASITES????

THE ROB$TAR IS BACK WITH ANOTHER ALBUM REVIEW!!!!!!!!

Now today kiddies I'm going to talk a little bit about FALL OUT BOY'S new album titled SAVE ROCK AND ROLL which was released to the world one week before it was available in stores and itunes via streaming on Soundcloud. Now F.O.B have recently returned after a 3 year hiatus and I'm not afraid to admit it but I was one of those teens who loved their shit back in 2007 when they released INFINITY ON HIGH

Now what do I actually think about this album?

It's basically a pop rock album with hip-hop elements, from the heavy guitars and the generic drum beats and even Patrick Stump singing is reminiscent of hip-hop kiddy fucker R Kelly. I'm going to be honest, this album wasn't revolutionary like their first few classics, it does however showcase that they are still talented and made each track as pop as possible and had the intention to have them ALL radio playable.... I couldn't help but notice that the first few tracks sounded generically the same....

F.O.B collaborated with a few big names, a track with Courtney Love: Damn she sounds horrible and you can definitely hear the effects of years of heroin and crack abuse have taken a toll on her scratchy voice lol. She sounds like a crack whore trying to sing and when she screams at the end of the song, it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Yuck.

Funny enough Sir Elton John appears on a song, he sounds kinda old now, but still able to hit certain notes. He's nearly 70 but it's still an honor to have him brace the album with his presence.....

Oh and Big Sean did a verse on a song, one word.... WHACK!!!!!

There we're two songs that I really enjoyed, the first was Young Volcano's, a nice acoustic ballad which showcases how good of a singer Patrick really is. The second was Death Valley, a nice little mid-tempo rock song which reminds me of one of their old songs on the album From Under The Cork Tree.... I couldn't help but notice that the hook on this song sounds like Usher's song DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again. lol And from the whole album, I only enjoyed 5 tracks lol

If I had to compare this album to their previous ones, there's no competition, their old shit is better, and even the songs don't sound as sincere and emo anymore.... Just pop-punk... It's kind of difficult for me to give this album a fair rating simply because I am a F.O.B fanboy. But if I had to give it a number....

RATING: 5.6/10

I was somewhat disappointed overall but it doesn't matter, I'm still going to buy this album once released. And maybe, just maybe it will grow on me the more I listen to it once I have it on my Ipod.

This was a difficult album to review, lol, I still love you F.O.B.

Here's the link to their new album - https://soundcloud.c...-rock-and-roll

Anyway I'm off now

Courtney Love? Really? Did someone fill out a Mad Lib when they were planning this album?

"Hey, who would kids nowadays love to see on Fallout Boy's new album?"

"How about Courtney Love?"

"Yeah! Hipster kids love Courtney Love!"

Do people in that particular demographic even know who she is?

I'm sure they got her on there for shits and giggles.

Either that or Pete Wentz really loved Cobain.

Personally I would have went with Dave Grohl, he's not total garbage. lol
