I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

Yes, it was a random stream of conscious (or not so conscious) thought on the part of Winston...because I couldn't be bothered to write anything canononical, as such it deserved a random chapter heading!
