How the hell did these shows get by me? I love freakshows.

I've seen a woman compulsively drink gasoline, two men who roleplay as babies [and pay women to be the mom], a woman who eats the foam for couch cushions, a woman who drinks nail polish, and even more oddities.

Hell I saw a man make out with the bumper of his car, which he has named and has a sexual relationship with. They met at a used car auction and it was "love at first sight".



I'm getting a morale boost from how normal I feel now.

I see these on Youtube sometimes and I'm intrigued not only by their antics but the sheer overwhelming number of hateful comments below. In that episode with the fat bloke who acted as a baby, there were so many 'go kill yourself comments' it's not even funny. Baring in mind these people must have deep seated psychological reasons for such, for want of a better word, afflictions. It's so interesting to wonder what causes these sorts of occurrences to come about.

It's so interesting to wonder what causes these sorts of occurrences to come about.

yeah, that interests me too. I think it ties into people thinking it's a sexual deviantation, which in almost all societies is taboo. And of course mob mentality arises when a group of people hold a different belief than a smaller group of people.

In the case of the adult babies/car lover, I feel theres a social norm that's expected of people, growing up and leaving your fantasies behind. And these people are completely ignoring this social norm, living out their own fantasies [however obscure it may be], and contrary to popular belief haven't been punished by fate for it. Yeah, they're on a show called "My Crazy Obsession", but they've come full term to accepting their obsessions. And nowhere in the show does it explicitly say "What they're doing is wrong", the people in the comments are just trying to express their feelings towards that lifestyle [that they feel it's wrong].

Alot of these people have had serious psychological trauma at an early age, usually 9-13 sometimes earlier, and most of what we see are coping mechanisms for stress. Everyone has coping mechanisms, if you didn't you'de go insane. Most of the people eating strange substances are "eating" their problems, stuffing them deep inside, alot like obese people who eat their problems away with food [Eating is something that is naturally rewarding, both on an emotional and chemical level]. Alot of people do these things because it brings them comfort, which is something we ALL wan't. They just have an obscure way of attaining it.

The furries, though, is it's own can of worms, there are so many types of people and conflicting interests withing the fandom. Reasons can vary from using an alternate persona for self expression [expressing yourself in a way that you feel your normal self can't], feeling like the characteristics and form of an animal suit you better[therianthropy], the aforementioned "living your fantasy", or just being sexual deviants [which is living out sexual fantasies]. All of the above reasons are socially taboo, also. The first one for an interesting reason: people like to think they know someone, and the revealing of an alternate persona can make someone question "Did I really even know that person?". This can cause emotional disconnect on a few levels, and is why most furries keep that to themselves and other furries.

Psychology has always been the most interesting subject to me, It's the mind trying to comprehend itself, and this show is insanely entertaining to me. Them visiting the psychologists and getting a prognosis is the icing on the cake.

The human brain is far too complex to ever really understand what happens in there to make someone do some of the things they do.
These weird habits and tendencies are just another thing that our brain does to us for no discernible reason.
It could be chemical, habitual, taught methods, or even just simple perversions of things that already exist in our psyche.

On the topic of that show though, I am fairly certain at least a handful of those oddities are faked to make the show more shocking.

Yeah, I could see that being true. Drinking gasoline/nail polish daily would definitely harm your brain cells. They seem a little too articulate to have been drinking that crap for years.

According to some "ask doctors" sites, the toxins get expelled from your body pretty quickly.

But drinking/inhaling gasoline causes serious nervous tissue/lung damage, even years after drinking it, and non-surprisingly stomach irritation/complications.

So yeah, girl couldnt have been drinking gasoline too long, if at all.
