Horror Anime

So anyone watch any good horror anime?
I just finished Another, which was alright. I was glad I didn't do a lot of research into it before watching, all the twists and turns were unexpected for me. I liked it.
I'm rewatching Higurashi as well. I really enjoyed it a couple years ago. I don't remember a lot, just that I got so immersed in the story I could forgive everyone dying every three or four episodes.

I guess when it's animated, the realness factor is gone down a lot. Watching movies like Saw or something brutal like that I just can't do. Not only do I get sick, but I tend to somehow feel the pain of getting your arm cut off or being stabbed or something.

Higurashi was what got me into anime, so it has a special place in my heart!

Here are some horror anime that I've watched.
I am not entirely sure if all of the following are considered horror, but they do have a twist of horror in them, at least.
Another
Mirai Nikki
Elfen Lied
Shinsekai Yori
Shiki
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou
Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation
Narutaru: Mukuro Naru Hoshi Tama Taru Ko
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Ookami Kakushi
Shinreigari: Ghost Hound
Umineko No Naku Koro Ni

That's actually exactly I feel about it, too. Except for the real deepness. It's weird, because I'm attracted to the anime that is gory and brutal.
BUT it needs action. Here are a few of my favorites which I'll quickly sum up as best I can...
Claymore - babes that are spliced into demon genes with special ability that can transform and fight other demons.
Corpse Princess - an undead uzi weilding babe that likes to kill other undead things and monsters.
Parasyte -the Maxim- - an alien host fails to take over a humans body and they both must adapt and survive. He uses this as a weapon to fight other parasites.
Highschool of the Dead - boobs and zombies.
Deadman Wonderland - a framed student becomes the new attraction at a prison that is funded by turning their prisoners into entertainment with an array of deadly games. He also has the ability to turn his blood into a weapon and faces off against others like him.
EDIT: I just realized how old this thread was! Dirty bumpers

I am also very attracted to that kind of anime, even though I am not at all a violent person in real life.
By the way, I've watched Parasyte -the Maxim-, Highschool Of The Dead and Deadman Wonderland; they were wonderful anime.
I haven't watched Corpse Princess and Claymore, though. So, I'll make sure to check those two out!

Not really a horror anime I think, but Monster is really really good! It's super suspenseful and it's psychological horror is amazing! It's pretty long though, so I'm not sure if that's someone you like. Also, antagonist is probably one of my all-time favourite villains, if you can even call him that haha

I loved the SHIT out of that manga. Never got a chance to watch the anime. Perhaps I will now.
I could get into Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka, but it's also a comedy. Horror/comedies are my thing.

I relate deeply.
It's not terribly horror-deep or anything, but I recommend the shit out of the English dub of Ghost Stories (I believe it's called).

Also, apparently I commented on this thread a year and a half ago.

I'm torn with regards to Gakkou no Kaidan (School Ghost Stories). The English dub is a prime example of how things are lost in translation. In this case, the original Japanese version is completely different. It was a straight horror/thriller-style show, whereas the dub was turned into slapstick comedy. That's mostly due to the show being poorly-received, and the dubbing rights being sold with no restrictions other than "sell it".
I dunno, I'm just a bit "ugh" considering the show was directed by a fairly big name in the anime industry (Noriyuki Abe, famous for directing YuYu Hakusho and Bleach). Even if the dub did crack me up.
Also, would recommend Death Parade and Psycho-Pass. Neither are really horror as such, unless you count psychological. Death Parade is very focused on revealing the true dark nature of humanity, and Psycho-Pass is a cop-themed show which is part Minority Report.

KWZD? is great. Though I'd advise that if you don't like cliffhangers, don't watch it. Season 2 ended on one of the biggest fuck-yous to the audience I've ever seen and a third season that fixes that doesn't seem to be anywhere on the horizon. I'm not kidding, it's even worse than the way Mahou Sensou ended.
