That Romney is a straw man. The entire point of him running is to make Obama look good by comparison.
Consider for a minute how poorly people were looking at Obama before the debates began. Before the debates Obama's chances of winning another election appeared split at best.

Since the debates began Romney has done little but make himself look bad being caught in lies and changing his views at the flip of a coin. So much so that anyone paying any attention would never vote for the man.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Didn't Romney hit 52% in the Gallup polls though? And apparently no candidate has ever gone above 50 and then lost.

Either 52% of americans are complete morons(not saying this is impossible...) or the information is being skewed(also not impossible)
I would not consider voting for Romney simply on the grounds that you cannot tell where he stands.

Apparently Romney currently leads by 1% of registered voters, and 5% of likely voters. http://www.gallup.co...l/election.aspx

i hope not. We do not need someone in that position who we do not have the slightest inclination as to what they will do. We CANNOT afford another war. We NEED to raise taxes for a 10-15 year period to lower the deficit. We NEED to cut spending on unnecessary programs. I understand that it will slow progress for a few years, but it is necessary.
It is ridiculous that we think we can run a country when we have never once since our foundation been without debt.

People rag on Obama, but I definitely believe that even with the past four years taken into account, he's a better president than Romney will ever be. It's also annoying to see people still can't get past the race issue. And the whole Muslim thing.

People are always going to look at different people differently.
Its genetic, you can't stop a genetic reflex.
And the Muslim thing really is not helped by how Merkins portray the whole religion.
They basically make it look like a race of people and not a belief system, which is assinine.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

We are not given a whole lot of choice on the whole religion thing, but IMO one should not be allowed to rule a country (any country) and follow a belief system that tells you that there is an all powerful being that loves you and can fix all your problems whenever he feels like it, but doesnt.
It is a silly way to think. That said the choice shouldnt be based on religion.

And the racial issue is moronic, though admittingly that works both ways. Many many black people voted obama the first time around JUST because he is black, just as many people did not vote obama because they didnt want a black president.

We need someone who honestly wants to make this a better place to live, not someone who just wants to impress people for 4 years so that he gets another 4 years to dick around.

I am sure that many presidents start out with genuine good intentions, then are crushed by the weight of responsibility and settle for just doing thier job.

Problem is caring about the country and leading it to a better place IS their job.

I've actually thought about this!

I couldn't figure out how anyone like Romney could have made it as far as to be able to run for president. My only conclusion was he was there to make Obama look good, but somehow the whole thing failed and now he may win the election.

Or something. I don't pay as much attention to American politics as I should.

It's funny, we were talking about politics in sixth form yesterday, there was a brief discussion about America and the general world consensus is that Mr. Romney could only be elected in America or Sub-Saharan/ Pan-African countries. I generally fear for American security should Romney get his presidency. To that being said, Corporate America will select who will grease the wheels of business the best. To entertain the notion that the President holds the most power in America is a somewhat blighted idea indeed. I think your Middle Eastern policy will certainly be dictated by the oil companies, not Romney. It is not in any Western country's best interests to alienate themselves from Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Iran. That being said, Romney's intent towards Iran is strikingly (and worryingly) reminiscent of Bush's interests in Iraq. Non existent WMDs and now a non existent nuclear missile programme.

Romney will probably start a war with the UK.

I don't know why I think that, I just feel like it'll happen.

I thought Romney was a joke once I saw the Romney Flip Flop videos

literally 15 minutes of him saying one thing, then saying the opposite a few years later

If you take his word for it, he's simultaneously FOR and AGAINST everything

(prenote: I'm nonpartisan, no bias here boss)
Part of the problem of viewing things from an outside country perspective is that you see certain issues that someone who lives here does. For example, there's a major abuse of the welfare system as is. I'm not going to stand here and tout that certain people don't deserve it (because some people certainly do) but there are plenty of fat cats that get it and make literally no effort to getting off of it. It is a big issue as it stands and is one of the issues that Romney seems to want to fix. I don't support the guy but I can certainly see why some people would.

Since we're stuck with a two-party system it's ultimately choosing between the lesser evil.
