Tesla was pretty great. I'm so happy that The Oatmeal raised enough money to buy his property and turn it into a museum for him.

I chipped in on that Oatmeal thing, if I remember right.

Anyway: Thanks Nikolai, for trying to give us all free electricity! Good try!
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

As did I. It was amazing how quickly he gathered the money too.

Didn't he electrocute more than one? Or was it just other animals as well.

i'm not sure. he was a bit adamant on proving dc was superior, so i imagine he would've done more presentations.

Yeah, from what I understand he bought old circus animals and electrocuted them. Also promoted AC electric chairs.

Never thought Edison was such an asshole until I had learned about the current war.

Tesla's story is one that I always come back to. I was trying to teach my sister about the current war and linked her to the Oatmeal's comic. He's definitely one of the most interesting historical figures out there.

Yes, I agree!

Yeah, I always assumed Edison was a pretty stand up guy until I learned about Tesla. They always treated Edison like a god in school.

I'd prefer to die to a Tesla Coil than a regular electric chair.

Edison you giant bastard you.

He may have been underappreciated, but I am willing to bet there were other men who made amazing advances and no one has ever heard of them.
The definition of underappreciated.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

Later on in his life he would just conduct experiments in his head and know the outcome as if he had actually done it. Crazy like a fox.

Yeah, apparently a lot his stuff was only around half on paper, and the rest of the blueprints were in his head.

I have a friend whose dad stole a lot of Nikola's diaries and books from his house in the Yugoslavian Conflicts, good thing too because the Serbians tried to destroy them. Really amazing, he wants me to see them if I ever visit.
