It's not by nintendo, it's one of many fan projects
but, essentially, it's Pokemon with the Advanced-era graphics in an MMO setting.
I havent seen much played outside of combat, which looks just like Pokemon.
Caught it on someone's twitch.tv stream, I'll see if I can hunt down some links
