I don't like the new update for iOS 6 and really would like to restore to iOS 5.1.1.
I've downloaded the operating system and I'm ready to restore my iPod, but i get this message:
"The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build."
How do I get around this? I really want 5.1.1 back.
Thanks.

You could jailbreak it
This would also allow you to get all apps and in-app purchases for free, and restore it to any OS of your choosing, even if it's not compatible
The iPod will still work with iTunes, all the original functionality will remain
You can also get apps and unlock functionality that apple has restricted [my iPod 2nd gen has wallpapers and multitasking, just changed 2 lines of code]
And, if you mess up [which is really hard to do now], iTunes can restore it, or you can restore it manually
