Hnnng. I decided to go for 2 achievements at once, and now I'm going to lose against the boss for sure >.> Living Off The Land (don't buy anything in stores) and No Redshirts Here (no crew deaths) so now I'm in the alt version of the starter ship, with no weapons aside from the starters. Help ._.

I can't even beat the game >.>

I have 38 playthroughs and zero victories, so...yeah. I fuckin' suck at this game lol

Unlocked the Zoltan cruiser, hurray. Though I semi-cheated by looking through the events.xml to find out what happened >.>

Edit: First form of the final boss beaten using the basic Engi cruiser. Same 3 starting crew, Anti-Ship II drone, Ion Blast II, Heavy Laser I, Hermes Missiles and 4 shield. >.> Though I have like 3 hull left, sooo...

I heard this game is hard is it? I heard that easy is hard but you die not as fast and normal is hard but you die quicker is that not the case?

Man, I love that game. The best thing is that it'll run on anything - it could probably run on my phone.

I can never win with missiles. They're great for the first few sectors, but after a certain point every enemy has defense drones or they just dodge like crazy - not to mention that you usually start running out of missiles towards the end. I can usually beat the boss fairly easily using drones and burst lasers and either a bomb or a bream.

Also, was in a nebula sector earlier, that kinda sucked. Enemy got a lucky hit on my door system, but because I had no crew there I didn't know it got set on fire. Until the O2 system exploded into flames.

Once I get the time/effort, I'm going to install the Captain Edition, a massive mod made by the FTL forum community. It has tons of extra stuff to it, so that'll be cool.

Finally won my first normal game last night! Now that feels good.

 

Also looking forward to advanced edition, first I've heard of this captain edition which sounds interesting.

Thus far I do not particularly love the Lanius. They drain oxygen, which is both good and bad seeing as they do not need oxygen to survive themselves, but makes having a multi race crew difficult. However they are slow if they are not in an oxygenated environment, which makes them fairly useless as far as fixing anything that breaks unless you have the 02 set at maximum power.

I haven't gotten to try them out yet. Since upgrading to a new laptop, I lost all my FTL progress so I only have the Kestrel unlocked >.> Gonna have to do some shit to get my stuff back.
