Hello space-fans and welcome to FTL. Etc etc.

Basically it's a Rogue game in space. You pick your ship and get thrown into a ton of randomly-generated situations. Combat, trade, and such.

Not sure why it won't load as a picture. >_> But yeah. I bought this a few days ago on Steam and I've sunk 13 hours into it already. The randomness of it makes it so much fun to replay, though I'm yet to actually win as the final boss is an overpowered bundle of wank.

Well yeah but even clicking on "copy image location" doesn't give an extension. Just the same link, but longer. xD

Oh god, I love this game so much. Too much.
It is disproportionately fun.

Well worth the price tag.

I kickstartered this one when it was in development.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

the basic premise for it reminds me of the old x-com games. at least from the images i am seeing, havent purchased it yet

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

-_- fucking osprey. had an awesome game going. I was using 2 burst laser II's and a halberd beam to weaken the enemy(mostly just keeping their weapons down and stopping them from running) and had 3 mantis' and a rockman who were my boarding parties. The osprey's artillery went off and destroyed the enemy with my 3 mantis' and rockman still on board.

And to top it off the last enemy was about to die. Had it been another 2 seconds i would have captured the ship instead of destroying it.

I've never actually captured a ship, I just focus on blowing them to tiny bits as quickly as possible. Is there a bonus to it?

You get more materials when you capture than when you destroy. Also if it is a slaver you get to pick the type of alien to add to your crew. And I believe it is necessary to gain some of the ships(i think the mantis one you need to capture, because i have killed the named mantis guy and got nothing but scrap from it.)

Also i kinda feel sad now... i figured out a very easy way to defeat the final boss.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Do what? The easy final boss bit? Have a teleporter(level 2 or 3 preferred but not necessary), preferably 2 mantises (though any race can do it, they are just faster at it) and enough weapons to get through their 4 shields(easiest way is an ion bomb+ some burst lasers, but it is worth having a beam weapon of some sort as well for the third encounter when it has a zoltan shield) Start the fight by beaming the 2 mantises onto the rocket artillary weapon and letting them pound it down, rinse and repeat until they have no weapons.(the rocket artillery is the only one that pierces shields so it is the one i worry about first) Since they are all seperrate from the cabin area of the ship the crew will not be able to repair it.

Only in the final fight will it be able to be repaired and even then only if/after you kill all of the crewmembers.

From what I've been told, it's actually a bad idea to kill the crew on the final boss, because once that happens the ship has a different AI that takes over, and is far more aggressive.

I dunno if its a bad idea or not to kill the crew. Either way it is a good idea to board and bust up the weapons :P. I know it said an ai takes over, and it seemed to be repairing everything all at once, but it died 20 seconds or so after it took over so i dunno how hard it makes it.

Yeah from what I remember when it has no crew left the AI takes over, and can fire/repair everything at once, whereas the crew can only fire/repair at a certain speed, and obviously can't repair the weapon systems.

I don't know what happened, but the game is being hateful to me today >.> so many shitty situations i barely escape from just to land in another shitty situation. Also i have lost track of how many of my crew members have been vaporized/instantly cut in two/caught an illness and got left behind/caught an illness and attacked my people/etc.
