Oh, oh! I’d bet it’s because they could only make it after Gygax’s death.

This does sound badass. It's almost embarrassing how long it took for someone to make it, though. It’s 2013 and only now can we D&D online?

Well, they tried to make an actual DnD video game, online mp.
but they totally missed the point of dnd, it ended up being a by-the-books run of the mill MMORPG.

Still im sure the ruleset is A3 in this online version? I prefer classic, before they threw in armour damage, calculateable line of sight, spread, layering... just got over the top and took 12 die rolls to figure out the person did 6 damage... >.<

I think the reason is probably the fact that you don't really *need* a dedicated platform in order to play most tabletop RPG's. If you can do without a map, then you can play pretty much anywhere with a dice roller.
That's what my friends and I usually do.
I've got a Mutants and Masterminds campaign I'm about to start with a few of 'em, and we're playing it on a G+ hangout.

I hope they take the time to allow players to decide which versions and specializations they'd like their game to pertain to. I personally still play a mixture of versions 2-3.5 and my friends and I all agree upon our game rules. I'm about to start up a new campaign here in FL because I moved here temporarily. I'd like to meet a couple people to join a friend and I.

I'm glad they fixed the rage system on barbarian. I have a certain troublemaker in my adventure party, and he is always searching for a loophole.

Is this still a thing? I have a real desire to play, but yeah. xD

Try http://roll20.net/ I have a buddy who started a group a few weeks ago and swears by it. The only reason I'm not playing is we have a group that meets up IRL every week when he does his virtual thing, so I don't personally know how well the thing works.

I thought that everyone decided that D&D was a sell out and all went over to Pathfinder instead.
I'm honestly not even sure what the difference is though.
