I enjoyed the first movie, anyway.

Jackson managed the tone quite well.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

I enjoyed the movie, but you can already see that they are stretching it to fit three films. The amount of worthless content added to this film was incredible.

Overall I would judge it as a good movie, but a poor translation from the book to the screenplay.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

There were definitely a few scenes that could have been accomplished in a minute or two but were stretched out for ten or fifteen.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

It's the Lord of the Rings (well, it's canon to the series at least). What do you expect?
I rented one and started watching at 10 at night or so, thinking I could finish it before 12.

I went to bed at 1:00-1:30 in the morning.

Seriously....it was like reading a Game of Thrones book it moved so slow.
