i'm lucky in the fact that i have not had to deal with comcast, but i am not a fan of cox in this area. when i got reconnected, i couldn't use my internet for a week because of a problem on their end that involved them resetting a setting in their system. and they charge just as much for my service i have now as my phone company does for it's weakest service, which is 3mbps. plus the phone company is on fios lines, and i'm not sure if cox has finished installing theirs or not.

why can't i get service from the phone company? i couldn't tell you. that's another story for another time.

Fiber line at work. Upload is throttled at 15 megs/second for dev machines, I guess.
DL didn't appear to have a hard throttle, I don't know if you can set up QOS to slowly degrade (ie start at 20MB/s cap and at 5 seconds in a continuous DL throttle to 15) but that's what appeared to happen.

I've actually seen that on a lot of college computers I've done this on, so I imagine there is some sort of way to do that. Or possibly something with large networks?
