This is the third time I've gotten her into her 40s as well and the first I've hit 50.

Not even gonna lie, if I lose all those levels again I'm done for good.

As it stands I've written all my other toons off and double save every time I exit game.

my favorites are when you fall off a mountain and slide down into a batch of rocks you can't jump out of because bethesda can't seem to figure out how to move around on angled surfaces.

So after a weekend of switching out and fixing up some mods on here, I thought it'd be neat to give a quick list of some of the better mods I've found.
I'm not going to post any mods that change character play, or immersion per se, just mods that in my opinion make the game much more aesthetically pleasing.


First of all, even if you don't want any mods in your game, I can't stress enough how much the unofficial patches help in so many ways.
You won't know they are, but they really do fix a truck fuck of things wrong with original and dlc'd skyrim.

Now, personally, I mod my characters because I genuinely don't care for vanilla textures.
I think that, while at the time of release they may have been very detailed, that detail has not held up over time.

The first thing I always use, is Better Females which replaces the facial texture on all npcs and character settings ~ http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/2812/?

The next, and I apologize for the pixelated penises, is Better Males, which will do the same as the aforementioned mod ~ http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/2488/?
Do note, that all of these of these mods have multiple versions in each download. There are pictures depicting which versions are which in game. I personally use the least whorey makeup version of Bella's, I believe it's 1, but it was installed in 2012 so I could be wrong, and I use the muscular flaccid uncircumcised version of better males. (tho the erect ones are hilarious when you strip the npc of all gear >.>)
For bodies on females, there are two widely recognized mods.
One for more petite and smaller breasted npcs and characters Dimonized UNP ~ http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/6709/?
And one for larger more voluptuous npcs and characters CBBE ~ http://www.nexusmods...rim/mods/2666/?
These are both going to have similar options to the better males mod, from breast size to weight scale to pubic hair preference.
Honestly, they all three allow the body textures of every npc/character in game to just become 10x more defined even without the nudity aspect.
Necks, hands, feet, torsos, legs all become much much more defined.

Depending upon which body model you use, you can also find tons of mods that will change the armor in game to better suit your preference.
They range from the very detailed vanilla upgrades, to the very scantly clad vanilla armors, to the fantastical out of skyrim patterns. I believe I even saw a SAO armor the other day, just as an example.


They also make a two in one mod that makes the Argonian and Kajiit races a bit better as well.

Next, I mod the children because honestly, I just can't stand the same doofy face in ever town and city looking up at me as they run past.

Now there are two armor replacers for children, but truth be told, I have not been able to get them to work properly, so I cannot help.

If you can get them to work, they make the clothing much more interesting and much better looking.


And the latest ones I've found that have made the game much much better looking have been for cities and houses.
I've found two modders specifically that made upgrades to some of the major holds and the player purchases homes therin.

You can see for yourself in the pictures they include, but they really do make them all much much nicer and pack quite a bit of detail into every area they can.
Cities and abodes are much more colorful and vibrant as a result.

There's a ton of mods for flora and water textures as well, one is not necessarily better than the next, it's just what kind of realism you're looking for in game.


As far as functionality, there's two mods I find make gameplay infinitely easier.

Please be sure to read each description of the mods themselves. Some of them do require that other mods be present and installed at the time of download and they do require an order to work properly.


When you start skyrim in steam, there's going to be an option to view the order to load the data files. Some do need to be loaded in order to work properly. If you're finding you're having trouble and can't place why, Loot is a great program that will tell you exactly what the issue is. Loot ~ http://loot.github.io/ I also highly reccomend using nexus mod manager to keep mods installed in a simple and orderly fashion. Makes uninstalling a breeze as well. And, that's it.

There's quite a few listed, but all in all they really just improve upon vanilla aspects in game.
If you look around the steam workshop and/or the nexus mod pages you can find thousands of other mods to fit your style of play.
There are tons to add sets of armor, followers, weapons, special homes, you name it.

I personally like to stay immersed in the fantasy of skyrim as much as possible, but I do also enjoy some badass weapons and gear that most certainly would not belong in game originally.

To each is own, and I have a blast.

So, I finally started playing Skyrim. I picked it up in this year's Steam sale. I know -- years behind. I'm like that with most games.

 

I must say...how the fuck was this game ever played without mods? 2 hours into it I had to stop, exit out and probably spent 3 hours combing and installing mods. Well worth it. That being said...

 

Fantastic game. I have a deep appreciation for open-world games with this much incredible detail. I've put 35 hours into over the holidays and I was greatly entertained. I have two characters - one I'm going legit and being a do-gooder, the other I slaughter everything I can. And commit all sorts of theft and crime. Good times.
