Quick question .. my friend wants to sell me his older (2009) macbook - it has been wiped clean and comes with no OS loaded. he said he has a bootable thumb drive for Mac OS X 10.6, snow leopard. if i agree, will i be able to load the OS from a bootable USB stick, or will i need to burn the file to a DVD? furthermore .. how would i do this - i am very new to mac and know it will be a lot different then loading an OS on a windows PC.
any help would be great!
thanks!!
Blank Macbook - no OS, help please.

never trust drunken pc advice, but
you can boot an OS from a thumb drive for most m/boards, since it's from 2009 I have no doubt you could boot from thumb drive
in fact since he use dht eword bootable thumb drive it leads me to believe its set to boot properly
however, running it off of a thumb drive is fairly ineffecient, you'll want to get a real OS on the actual hard drive of hte machine

Emo has it right, though I believe you should be able to install from the thumb drive as well, as you can on most *nix platforms.
