I'm sure most fans realize that every anime is drawn a little differently. What's your favorite style, story and characters aside?

I think Witch Hunter Robin might be my favorite, I like how everything is a bit dark and grungy, and it has just the right amount of detail in my opinion. http://www.asianpopc...81112132407.jpg

:)

You should give the series a try.

From what I know about Witch Hunter Robin they have a similar feel and are similar in animation it seems as well.

You'd have to ask LD to be certain tho, I know he's seen both.

that's a real tough choice. from a purely visual aesthetics view, i guess i'll go with flcl. the hand drawn art was awesome and easily fit the show.

Yeah, WHR was a very good show, I don't know why it didn't get more recognition.

What I do NOT like is when they play superdeformed too often inside a show, it can be okay for a quick joke but if its going to be more then once in a while its going on my nerves. Other than that, I like the more realistic styles, but I am not picky really.

try damekko doubutsu
its a cute little short series about people in animal costumes turn out to actually be animals, the funny part is it is always in chibi, and when serious things occure it goes into a more serious art style, still in the animal costumes

That's a tough one. But I'd have to say the kind you saw a lot back in 90's with Ranma 1/2 and Trigun and such.

Smells like nostalgia, Cowbro Bebop.

Visually I thought Strawberry Panic was stunning and it's still my favorite art style. Oh dear, I am probably going to be shot for this aren't i?

Hayao Miyazaki's art is superb and above all. I dig simple styles. The simpler it is, the more you can actually pay attention to what's happening. Plus simple details is always awesome. Other simple styles I like are from Lucky Star, and Nichijou.

I have no idea how the artists are that actually draw the anime, could you give some examples for the less informed?

Alright sure.

This is Hayao Miyazaki's style. Notice how he doesn't use many details? And the eyes aren't big like usual animes.

Posted Image

On the other hand Lucky Star has bigger eyes, most anime do. But I think the details aren't as exaggerated as other animes. Not too stylized.
Posted Image

Same thing happens with Nichijou.

There are a lot of anime that carry this kind of simple and laid back style. And I'd say those kinds are my favorite.

hope this post explains better.
