Why I never started Dr. Who. I'm sure I would like it, but too much work seems to be involved.

Not really.
There is a fair bit if history to the show, but after the ninth Doctor's reboot everything is fairly independant from the rest of the previous series and sets up its own stuff. It is no more complex than any other sci-fi series.

It is perfectly acceptable to fear and admire a being you could not possibly understand.

It’s more of a personal thing. I would have to scrutinize ever incarnation of the Doctor. ...I have problems.

Knowing what you like isn't a problem at all.

No, it’s not that. There’s too much choice, too much background information involved. When I get into something new, it usually lasts a week, then I move on to something else. If it takes more than a week, I never finish it and slowly grow to hate it. I do it with video games, books. It’s part of the reason I can’t play MMOs anymore. With so much Dr. Who out there, I would be overwhelmed and gradually resent it.

I have done a bit of research in the past, but just couldn’t commit. I was going to start with the one who wore a bright scarf and looked like the kid from the Scott Pilgrim movie. I heard the show became really dark when it was that guy.

David Tennant is singlehandedly the best Doctor (No. 10). Well, for me that is ;)
First episode I watched was when I was about 3 or 4, it was black and white with horrifically awful yet somehow great stop motion animation of dinosaurs walking through London, that's all I remember... BUUT nevertheless I love Doctor !DOCTOR NOT DR! Who. It's a classic BBC show and it will never die.. it'll regenerate. :P
TARDIS = Time And Relative Dimension In Space. Good to see some other Whovians!

I started watching from 9 in September. I literally fell in love, I couldn't stop. I caught up in time to watch the Christmas special. I love the new companion, I'm interested to see what her story is.

I really want to start watching this series. Hence the reason I looked at this topic to see replies on how the show is. Where do you watch it at?

i think the 4th Doctor was the best one  :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Tennant is returning full time as The Doctor from 2014, in a story penned by RTD, who has been asked to return to Doctor Who following th departures of Matt Smith and Steven Moffat in the Christmas Special. It's thought to be linked to the 50th and the Parallel Earth Doctor getting caught in a regeneration crisis that reverses the process. Details are only just coming to light, with Tennant confirmed for the 50th and now the Christmas Special, allowing Smith to follow his Hollywood dream, Moffat has been approached to write a major blockbuster film script involving, oddly enough, a time traveller.

Everyone seems to either love Tom Baker or David Tennant as The Doctor.

The rest are just cast aside as irrelevant.
