There are many open world third person games I enjoyed playing in the past such as the GTA and Elder Scrolls series. The problem is that I can't afford a PS5 right now, so I'm looking for older games that I may have missed. Does anyone here have any notable recommendations?

Interesting that you play Skyrim in third person, it never felt right to me.

If that's your jam my hot list would be Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and the Mass Effect Trilogy remastered.

What else do you play?

It's easier to recommend good stuff when I understand your style.

Oh! Hello Affray. It's great to see I'm still not the last person here.

Anyway, I like medieval games such as "Dragon Age: Origins" and "Fable 2."

I also like games taking place in the 20th century, such as "Driver: Parallel Lines," "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City," and "L.A. Noir."

My main goal overall in gaming is that I like leading a team of non-playable characters with plenty of customization in an explorable open-world setting. I do not have a PS5 yet. Instead, I have Dreamcast, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, and PS4.

I have played "Horizon: Zero Dawn" and "Mass Effect 3," but they didn't offer enough customization for my tastes.

The reason I like third-person games is that it doesn't make sense to create a character I can't even see.

That's about the same general idea that I tend to favour in games as well.

Though I can't pull any other games out of my head right now that hit those marks.

I've actually been leaning more toward simpler games over the past few years.

Probably because they're low stress activities in stressful times.

a few bethesda games come close, once you pack them with so many mods and bug fixes they're barely recognizable, of course.

Hmmmmm. The 'Just Cause' series is ok. I haven't played the latest. But I dug 1 and 2.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were dope.

Borderlands..... ok. I'm running out of open world gams.

WoW?

Ok I'm done.

Just Cause 3 is very good, I haven't played 4 and I've heard less than great things so I probably won't touch it for a while.

There's something insanely satisfying about super sandbox games that really let you fuck around and have fun.
