I used to use Chrome but after I needed to use Firefox to see notes for a class last year, I never really switched back.

Now, my boyfriend is going into computer science, calls himself a real computer geek, and uses IE. I tease him about it constantly and tell him to switch, but he just won't. I'd hate to think that he'd be judged based on that..

I think I might next time I see him. I have to cringe every time I see him use it, it's bad enough to see some of my university profs use it.

For as much flak as IE gets, it was fairly inventive for its day. A lot of its unique features that were IE only are finally in CSS3.

It was very good at one point, but they didn't keep the innovative trend going sadly.

Well the problem was it was incompatible with any other browser and it has more security holes than you can count. They stopped the innovative trend because developing a web page that looks radically different in multiple browsers is completely ignorant.

So I uninstalled IE and stuck Firefox on his laptop for him. He was mad at first, he always gets mad when I tease him about stuff, but he hasn't gone back and changed it back yet.

So I think I win.

On another note, Chrome vs. Firefox. Which is better?

I'm in favor of chrome. Firefox is still behind on some of their CSS3 implementation stuff (ex: box-shadow in Firefox eats memory up, Chrome handles it a lot better). Some of the guys I work with still swear by Firefox, though. Ultimately I think the difference is fairly moot between the two for non-developers.
