The Interview, a stupid Seth Rogen vehicle (This Is The End was amazing, so this is a selling point for me,) got pulled because an anonymous hacking group backed by the North Korean government threatened to bomb any theater that showed it.
I just, I can't even.
What has the world come to?
"The Curious Taskof economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design."
I just read this. I sort of wanted to go see this before. I really want to now. Damn you, terrorist marketing. I'll be damned if a dictator who is friends with Dennis Rodman will tell me what to watch. All that has to happen is a showing one time and it'll be all over the internet.
Can't say that I'm surprised. When I first saw the commercials my first thoughts were "Isn't this going to piss off a lot of people?".
I wonder how many other shows/movies have been pulled because of things like this? The only other one I can recall is Clone High getting cancelled because Gandhi's portrayal caused protests in India.
They will just do straight to DVD then and ill be one of the first ones to buy the DVD or Blu-Ray
Since this got me all curious I've been reading around and Sony has stated they don't ever plan to release it on any format: http://variety.com/2...iew-1201382167/
Granted no one can tell the future, but I'm guessing it will get leaked before there's an official release be it by them or if they do sell the rights.
There's no way Sony's investors will allow them to take a complete bath on this movie. They'll demand, at the very least, that they sell the rights or distribute it digitally.

This came up on 4chan when they were discussing the shit. Made me giggle.

Publicity from the shitstorm will help profits from other things. I wouldn't be surprised if, if this really is a matter of national security, they suddenly get a windfall to just eat the film. Farmers get paid to not grow crops, why can't film studios get paid to not make movies? Both America and Japan might just say fuck it.
I really doubt it'll ever come out in any real form. Unless there's a huge outrage tomorrow, they'll probably just let things die down. I could see a release in a few months, but that might be a very long shot.

Now a leak? That could happen.
Everybody but the usual suspects (Americans who hate what America stands for, yeah, those fuckers) cried bloody murder over this move by Sony.
It's gonna get out there. Just ink a distribution deal with Netflix, which just paid $100 million for a Game of Thrones knock-off.

I saw the 'head-splosion' clip and it was, by many accounts, incredibly tame compared to so many action films. Don't see the big deal, nor what the shit-storm is about.

Praise be to Our Dear Leader.
Apparently, there's also an orgy scene involving the fat fucker.

Saving innocent people from even the remotest threat of being blown the fuck up is not ridiculous. What's ridiculous is that there is a group that is so obsessed with the film in the first place.

That's the world of the possible infringing on the world of the likely.
You're letting unreasonable fear rule your argument.
In related news, Sony caved further and removed all official The Interview stuff from the Internet.
