Yes of course I appreciate every gift Saf (fiance and pet cat) takes great efforts into getting me, but killing my favorite type of pigeon is not the way to do it. Specially if it's still alive and suffering.

My heart was torn. I nearly cried when I saw it. It's currently in a spare bird cage, where I'm keeping it safe and warm, AWAY FROM THE DEVIL, until I finish my research on this type of bird species and attempt to nurture it back to health. It's missing practically all of the feathers from the right wing and a few patches on the left one. He's all bloody and you can tell it's in pain :c

I'll take pictures tomorrow morning after feeding it, so I can show you the situation.

In case you're wondering what type of pigeon it is-- it's called a Tortolita.

Look at it. It's so fucking cute omg.

There is a type of pigeon called a prairie chicken.
They are tiny in comparison to most pigeons and unbelievably cute.
They are also delicate creatures.
Mine died.

They're like, a mix of bunnies and dinosaurs. Lol, cute.

Well, I just gave my pigeon some bread crumbs and water. Hoping she'll last the night. I don't have any disinfectant meds here, so I have to go out tomorrow and buy those and some pigeon food.

I really hope she survives, she looks looks so sad :'c

I need a name to call her by tho. And yes, I'm addressing this pigeon by the female pronouns. Sue me.

Just a tip, don't feed it bread crumbs.  Bread is very bad for birds, containing very little nutrition and possessing the ability to swell in their stomach if they eat too much.  Grab some wax worms or small mealworms from a local pet or fishing store if you can.  Also try offering it some fruit(berries are good), or a bit of commercial wild bird seed.  Ground doves(the family is belongs to) are pretty omnivorous, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something it's willing to eat.

Also, make sure you keep it warm.  Without feathers to insulate itself, plus the damage it sustained, it could possibly go into shock/hypothermic.  Make a nest in a soft towel that it can nuzzle down in, and consider an indirect heat lamp if the air in your apartment/house gets below 75ish.  Don't cook it, but try to keep the heat around 75-80.  Make sure you give it a solid 10 hours of real darkness at night(a sheet draped over the cage helps), and during the daytime try to keep three sides of the cage covered(use the aforementioned sheet) to keep it from stressing too much.

You might want to look into a local bird sanctuary if you've got one. They're usually well equipped to handle this sort of situation.

Wait, did you say your cat is your fiance? That warrents at least a passing explination.

Also, how about the name Sylph? Or Nymph from Sora no Otoshimono

"Let's tear off her wings so she can't run."

"So she can't run."

"Run."

"Wings. Run."

Okay.

Anyways, I'm changing the pigeon's gender and going with Mr. Featherlessbutt.  No, no, but really I'm calling him Dappi.

I read somewhere that cats do that because they think you suck at hunting...

Awful though, I remember my cat would bring home mice and birds and voles and you name it, and a lot of them because we live in a rural area. We eventually got tired of cleaning up after her and seeing her kill things in the yard that we got her a collar with a bell. It was funny seeing the frustration when everything heard her coming and she couldn't catch anything.

the pigeons in sweden are considered a pest and cats are very welcome in catching them. Cats are however known to be kinda brutal and play with thier victims. But its a part of the teaching in hunting to the kittens.

Might be more humane to just snap its neck if it doesn't make any improvements. Just saying.

Also, looks like a dove to me. o.o

Brutal, but necessary at times.

I once had to decapitate a baby rabbit because my cat caught it and crippled its legs and such.

And yes that looks exactly like a mourning dove, they are all over where I live.

Though I googled Tortolita and it does look similar as well.

Well doves and pigeons are related, its just people picture a white bird when they think of dove and a grey scavenger that is after their hot chips when they think of pigeon.

My cat was hit by a car and had to have a leg amputated, apparently it didn't need its front left leg anyways, we used to come home to dead red bellied black snakes, birds, and on one occasion a bream bigger then I have ever caught in the river. I only ever caught him out on it twice, one day he jumped off our two story roof swiped a bird mid flight then landed on all three legs. The bird crashed about 10ft in front of him and he pounced on it and snapped its neck.

The other time I was bringing the boat in and I found him swimming under the wharf with a mullet between his teeth. Wasn't a very big one that time but as always by the time I moored the boat the mullet was sitting on our welcome mat as a little present.

he had a bell collar but it didn't stop him, he just learnt to stay still until his prey came to him, and I guess he also learnt that bells don't ring under water. God I loved that cat not that I approve of this behavior, just that he had an amazing little personality. <3
