I for one am extremely excited! If anyone can make a good big budget American Kaiju movie it is Gareth Edwards. In any case it could not be worse than that garbage that came out in 1998 with Mathew Broderick. What are your thoughts?

Oooooo i did hear about this recently and was oh so happy if not a little dubious.
If anything deserves another chance it is without a doubt Godzilla. I mean, if they can give 'The Hulk' so many tries why not his bigger green cousin Mr. Zilla?!
In all seriousness, the 1998 reboot hurt my soul to watch. I always love to see the classics have their chance to re-shine what with the advances in CGI and the budgets usually thrown at said endeavours. All we can hope for is less sap, more destruction and none of the 'king kong' remake's "Oh, another hour won't hurt right?"
The picture in your post makes me want to stamp all over downtown new york. Excitement abounds for sure!

Well confession, I didn't know this was happening until about twenty seconds ago. However, now I'm quite intrigued! I'll definitely be waiting for this to come out. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I didn't loathe the last reboot.
It had Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer in it.
Two of my favourite people.

I do agree somewhat with mr. ninja. Godzilla by nature is just a machine of destruction though that time round they dumbed HER down as an angry hormonal lizard. A bit disappointing and in no way a shit on the actors involved. I did enjoy it to some degree but i think the direction it went it really left a lot by the way-side and didn't really do Godzilla much justice.
Perhaps it was the barrier of CGI that wasn't quite up to the job and the director and writers wanting to take it in a different direction.
I like to compare these things to Vampires/zombies, in my experience there are always two distinct types, supernatural ones and the more realistic ones (usually in the form of genetic variation or disease).
I think the last time round Godzilla was thrown in to a more realistic universe. Maybe it's time for a more ultra-realistic one?

that 1998 movie still haunts me with its lameness. So the anticipation is very low, thats why I think its gonna suprise me in a good way (I hope)

Given recent movie stills, I am starting to maybe think this movie might be decent.
I also sincerely hope they play this during the end credits, or have a guy listening to it on the radio while riding around.

"Helpless people on subway trains scream to god as he would sit on them."
There is definitely a subway train that has been sat on in the trailer.
I am now solidly convinced that they will use that mighty song somewhere in this movie.

What is with all the moss on every building? Does this movie take place in the laboratories of Portal 2?

Or perhaps Godzilla wrecks shit up and leaves, then the city becomes slightly overgrown.

But that would take years. So are you saying this Godzilla movie takes places over the course of a life time to the point where Godzilla just becomes a part of life?
"Oh looks like Godzilla is wrecking the town again, sigh, knew I should have got insurance."

Well if Godzilla kept attacking there is a good chance they would abandon the city.
Also, judging by the suits and the duct tapes wrists, I assume there there is/was the threat of radioactive fallout kicking around.
Which is what Godzilla leaves behind, what with the giant radioactive monster thing.

All I'm hearing is that Godzilla and GLaDOS are going to team up... wait GLaDOS was already in a monster movie.
So what is all comes down to is that this Godzilla movie is actually Pacific Rim 2.

Thanks to this thread by mind went where it never did before: Godzilla vs Hulk
(there were others as well - Hulk vs King Kong, Godzilla on Zombie Island, Alien vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs Predator, Avengers vs Man of Steel AND Godzilla, ... you get the idea. Some of these are pretty wrong, I'm just surprised I never thought of them before - even in jest)
