What is your preferred class/profession/etc.

I easily get bored of MMOs, I only get to level 20 before I lose interest. The class I always choose regardless is thief/rogue. I love being able to have quick, repetitive jabs rather than slower ones other classes will come with.

I've also played Dragon's Nest and really enjoy the tinkerer class, probably because I am studying engineering and everything seems to come back to that but hey.

i like healing, personally.

//Begin lengthy reminiscent stuff no one cares about

When it comes to MMOs I am ~80% pvp; years back on WoW (WoTLK expansion) I ran the #7th TreeHD in the world from the POV of the healer. It was an extremely stressful role and the majority of every match was me yelling out orders and our plan for the next 15 seconds.
In more casual play (read: battlegrounds) I still really enjoyed healing; you could be a total dickbag and generally speaking never die as long as you made good choices.

PVE wise I'm inclined to tank or heal, I'm fine with either. DPS is too mindless and boring for me.

TL:DR; whatever requires the most thought and has the highest potential skillcap with respectable reward. It varies between games but generally speaking that's tanking or healing.

DK is my class of choice. Like Emo, I love pvp, though mostly battlegrounds and stuff, I find arenas generally stressful and irritating.
For pve, I only tank with people I know. I very much enjoy it then. Otherwise, faceroll dps.

The stress is where its at bruh, when the game was balanced enough that you could actually outplay people and win (idk how it is now, haven't played pandas) where you're going

"CYCLONE DR UP IN .2, MAGE CS ON CD CYCLONING NOW"
"CYCLONE OFF IN 1, SET THE TRAP"
"SWITCH SWITCH SWITCH SWITCH"
idk. Just that fucking feel where the tension and stress is so high and you outplay and win, the rush you get is euphoric.

Well in my favourite MMO, Phantasy Star Online, I tried out every class and generally tested out builds that most people wouldn't touch. My absolute favourite was a FOmarl called Crescendo. I built her around ATP and the use of doublesabers, only really using buff/debuff techs and heals. Being able to out-damage actual melee characters was fun.

I have played tons of MMOs. I usually roll Heavy Tank or DPS mage.

I prefer PVE vs PVP. Although I think that any successful PVE game type will have an arena or instance for PVP.

I played Mabinogi, meaning I have no regular answers to any questions related to traditional MMOs.

Main character was a swordsman with archery and mage skills. Second character was all-ranged Elf with absolutely no melee skill.

First character was versatile, second character was broken DPS >w>

Rogues, in general.

My favorite MMO character was this guy, though: http://steamcommunit...ls/?id=19599016

Billy Ishida, the Kitsune Cowboy.
A booze-loving, teleporting mischief spirit.
I don't think he needs to be immortal. I think all he needs to do is to write the right story. Because some stories do live forever.

When I play MMOs (if RTS and DoTA style gaming counts) I'll usually play either a tank or a mage character with beefed up armour so that he can throw spells but won't get murdered in close range.

Either the sneaky type or the healing type.

I always found healers difficult, probably because even in MMOs I tend to be an introvert and keep to myself, so I'm not a very useful healer anyway.

i'm very, very, very introverted >.> healing is just like playing a totally different game, though. i'll admit being introverted hinders my character progression (as does my shitty connection), but it's still fun to me.
