That is a really super clean watercooling setup, but I'm disappointed they have holes in the side as if they were going to expand on the hardware.

I'm not sure the holes you mean.
You mean surrounding the suspended GPU?
He used an already made case, he said he could only work on it on nights due to his job, and it took him 2-3 months.
