Okay, first off, why is there no topic for Bioshock? I mean, come on, guys. Come on.

Secondly, I just did a search for Infinite and found out it’s been delayed. Again. I stopped paying attention a few months ago before I decided to freeze myself to kill the time, but... why? Why? I’m a suicidaly sad panda bar.

So then, Bioshock one and two. What do you guys think of them? Would you kindly tell me?

Never played the first. The second is a mediocre FPS with a few gimmicks and pseudo horror story aspects to scare the underaged kids who'll be playing it. Way overhyped for what it was.

The first one will probably stay a pinnacle in game storytelling for a while. Even though, I feel, not enough people played it, it was a massive break away from the average FPS trash at it's time. It took advantage of the new hardware in a spectacular way, and had fun, varied gameplay just short of what they'de promised us. Having the game trailer be in a faux-fps perspective may have mislead people into buying it, though, and I know a few people who bought it to say "This is /nothing/ like the trailer, dude".

The second one was a sad cash in. It was a literal example of "dual-wield for the sequel, coop for the next one, etc etc until the series is dead", and brought nothing new to the series, aside from the aforementioned dual-wielding.

I hope Infinite isn't just them finishing off the cash cow. But I have high hopes that they will deliver on their promises.

Just wish there wasn't so many delays, if it comes out after Watch Dogs and GTA5 it'll be in a real bad spot to compete for attention.

Same here.
If that happens I will most likely just wait until it is cheap and get it then.

Yeah, skip the second. It's only relevant if you’ve played the first.
The first was great because-

But the true greatness comes through by way of story. Take Atlas Shrugged and add guns and magic. Oh, and let the ‘utopia’ run it’s natural course so that the ‘parasites’ (God, Ayn Rand pisses me off even today) overthrow the elite using lighting bolts and vending machine pistols. The story is epic. It is most definitely work a look, especially if you can pick it up on the cheap.
Second one was a pure cash grab. ‘Hey, you know what this single player game needs? A crappy multiplayer!’ ‘Don’t we need a story for it?’ ‘Eh, the guy who lives under the bridge says he’s an author. Let’s give him a pizza and have him write it!’

I swear if I see this happen to any more series I'm going to cry... Like full-grown-man cry.

I know alot of people think I'm crazy, but Portal 2 was literally one of the biggest disappointments of my life. Doesn't mean I didn't have fun with it, and it's not a good game, but multiplayer has no place in a puzzle-platformer, the story was weak [considering that Chell had canonically died in the last game], and it had none of the magic that Portal had.

I only bring it up because Portal and Bioshock shared an odd trait in common, one that people overlook: Nobody expected them to get as big, or as popular as they did. The hype train behind these two games was so big that the devs would have been stupid to not rush a sequel. If they'de given the games the proper time, they would have also been hits, but time was such a big factor because the popularity [the whole reason behind the games] would be lessened if they'de spent any more time on them.

Valve decided to put most the team on a huge P2 project, which while it was a solid game, having such a big team really took away the minimalist magic of P1, classic case of "too many chefs spoil the broth".

Bioshock just got some facepaint, a second gun, tacked on multiplayer, and was thrown out the bus. It deserved much better than that.

Agreed 100%. And I am hopeful (That’s a damn rare state for me to be in) that Bioshock Infinite is the answer to that.

Same here, from what I've seen and what I've read the spirit of the original dev team is much stronger in Infinite.

I imagine the delays are from them trying to either shoehorn more [hopefully useful] features in, or are that they were too meticulate with what they'de designed, and they realized they weren't going to meet the deadlines right.

Either way, as long as it comes out before GTA5, I think it will have alot of positive attention to itself.

Hopefully all of what has been said about Infinite is true.

Also, GTA4 was ok, but a far cry from its predecessors, San Andraes was by far the best GTA game out of the lot.
So im not sure if GTA5 will appeal to me all that much.

I thought GTA4 was gorgeous and realistic, I wish it had more to it, as far as gameplay and multiplayer, but how they kept the GTA formula alive really drew me to it. The expansion packs made me realize that the city was the star of the game, not Niko.

For GTA5 they are doing /everything/ better. Like, I almost wanna call bullshit on half the stuff, but it's R*, and they've had a lot of time to mess with it.

There was a gameinformer article that I can't find online, but here's an article summarizing it.

Things I'm interested in include:

World map being bigger than GTA:SA and RDR combined, with a combination of bustling city and remote wilderness. The graphics have been revamped, again, and have a stronger air of photorealism, while keeping the stylized grittiness of GTA4.

Cars, guns, and melee all being retooled. Cars will handle more realistically, gunplay will be more intuitive, and "they are seeing how many resources they can put into melee", which to me sounds like they know what makes GTA fun, and they're focusing on that.

The 3 main characters sounds fun, each of them has a pretty interesting back story, but it all boils down to the three of them doing heists and stuff. So the characters will be unique, interesting, and deep, with their own set of troubles and desires, but I won't feel guilty when I have them play "human shotput" with the radiator of a semi. Being able to switch between them at any time via a google earth style zoom in, with each character having their own life and doing their own thing made my game-boner stiffen up.

Dynamic missions from RDR are making a return, meaning you can be driving around LS, and a mission can come up randomly. You can do it for cash or whatever, or you can ignore it. Breathes more life to the sandbox play that GTA is famous for, without holding us down and forcing us to do anything *cough relationships cough* There will also be the traditional side missions that this time around play out like "more complicated minigames".

Speaking of, relationships are done, but the cellphone stays. The cellphone even gets an improvement, with more features such as mobile internet.

With all this stuff, and the trailers to watch... I can't wait for Spring T_T

Honestly I don't want photo realism, I want a fun artstyle, and comparatively, RDR was far better than GTA4 so I want more things like that. I'd love for them to just head into left field and make a sandbox pirate game involving islands, major cities, and hijackable boats (and wild life including in the ocean) that would be amazing

If they can deliver all of that with the next GTA game, I am in.
Not sure how I feel about the three main characters though.
Might make it more difficult to identify with who you are playing as if you have to spread the love.
Other than that, all kinds of yes.

For some games a fun/different art style is great, but I don't believe GTA is that place.
I would also enjoy a game like that.
Any sort of sandbox game is fun, regardless of content I find.
Good content helps, a lot, but it is hard to screw up a sandbox concept.
We are about due for a good swashbuckling game though.
I was mega excited when I got to Captain a ship in Assassins Creed III.
The naval missions, though fairly simple and non-unique from one another, were my favourite part of the game.
Having naval battles during a raging sea storm had my blood pumping pretty damn hard.
If someone could translate that into a huge sandbox world where I could drive my ship around, build a crew, outfit my ship as I saw fit, and either wreak havok as a pirate or maintain order as an English Admiral I would probably die from excitement.

Hopefully reading that last bit made you as pumped as I am just thinking about it.

Part of what made RDR so much fun was the fact that it was almost a tongue-in-cheek, spaghetti western. GTA always tries to be serious. (I know how silly that sounds, but stick with me) It does come off playful while dealing with grownup issues like violence and prostitution, but it always came off grungy. By comparison, Saints Row was goofy and fun and came off like a parody.

I want the new GTA to be one part Friday, one party Don’t Be a Menace, and three parts Gangs of New York.

It did aff, and I know a lot of people hate it but I think what would be great for a game like that would be multiplayer, both co-op and competitive.

Forming fleets of ships and having skirmishes would be fun as hell.
Or raiding/defending ports/port towns.

I LOVE Bioshock. The storyline, gameplay. It's a masterpiece, at least in comparison to it's counterpart. Second one couldn't keep me interested.

Bioshock was tons of fun and I am looking forward to Infinite(should it ever actually be released). Bioshock 2 was still fun, and I enjoyed the game, but it was definitely rushed and it shows.

TBH I would prefer they wait their sweet time with infinite and release it once it is actually ready than have another bioshock 2

Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Two's game play was good, improved on the original. I like how in the first you had to make a choice between plasmids and guns. But I guess a big daddy could duel wield.
The story was the biggest issue. It wasn’t terrible, but felt forced. Rapture should have been gone after the first game, empty and abandoned and alone. Two sullied the memories you made there.

You're right. A lot of people DO think you're crazy :<_<:

Portal 2 was AMAZING. I loved the Co-op, and I'm not really sure what you mean when you say multiplayer doesn't belong in a puzzle game. In most puzzle games, that's true. However, in this one, it clicked. VERY well. Trust, fun, and just the perfect touch of diabolical science...
I really don't get where you're coming from, and that's very rare for me. Please explain xD
